After more than six months of using the WP-100 Semen Thawer, I can share some figures that demonstrate the equipment’s efficiency. One of the WP-100’s main advantages is the time savings it provides, especially in TAI procedures, thanks to its constant temperature control and built-in timer. During the period we used the WP-100, we saw the calving interval drop from 450 days to 408 days. In addition, the percentage of pregnant cows in lactation increased from 49% to 52%. Its rugged construction and waterproof design make the WP-100 a reliable tool for artificial insemination.

We have been using it for more than 120 days, both in our courses and in our day-to-day routine, and so far we have had no issues whatsoever. On the contrary, it is a piece of equipment designed for harsher handling conditions and is fully sealed. We do not need to worry about water reaching the electronic controls, and we also continuously monitor and check the temperature readings against a manual thermometer. So far, we have not noticed any variation at all, which makes it highly reliable.

Another detail that stands out is the presentation. I do not know whether, in the case of a partnership with us, they would be able to maintain this same standard because of the price, but the unit we received came in a leather case with a strap, similar to a shoulder bag, which I found excellent for safe handling and field transport. In short, after 120 days of use, we have not found any negative points.

Based on our assessment of the farms where we used the thawer, its contribution was extremely valuable and brought significant benefits to us, especially after more than 30 years working in the field with artificial insemination. Our survey of inseminated animals on farms in the region showed confirmed pregnancy rates above 85%.
